“UK Braces for Easter Snowfall Amid Unsettled Weather”

Date:

Latest weather forecasts indicate that parts of the UK are likely to experience snowfall during the upcoming Easter weekend.

According to the ECMWF weather model, there is a possibility of light snow showers in the northern regions of Scotland on Friday, with a potential for more widespread snow later in the weekend.

On Sunday, the ECMWF maps depict snowfall in Belfast, Manchester, and Glasgow around midday, along with chances of wintry showers in parts of northern England and Northern Ireland. Additionally, heavy snow is expected in western Scotland.

The Met Office has warned the public to anticipate unsettled weather conditions throughout the Easter weekend, with a likelihood of wet and windy weather affecting various areas.

Steven Keates, Deputy Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, stated that the weather is forecasted to become more unsettled as Good Friday and Easter Saturday approach, with periods of rain, potentially heavy at times. Following this, there will be intervals of sunshine and showers, with drier conditions expected in southeastern parts of the UK.

Keates further added that windy conditions are expected, particularly in exposed north-western areas, with a strong indication of continued wet and windy weather over the Easter Weekend despite some uncertainties in the details at present.

BBC weather forecasters also predict wet and windy conditions, stating the possibility of stronger winds and gales in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Heavy rain is expected, potentially affecting Wales, northern and western England, while southern and eastern England might remain dry until later in the day or overnight.

Sunday is projected to be cooler and showery, with frequent wintry showers in northern and western Scotland. Other regions may experience sunny intervals interrupted by sharp showers, with fewer showers and more sunshine expected in southern and eastern England.
