Snow is expected to hit major cities across the UK in the coming days as a significant blizzard approaches the country.
The GFS weather model indicates that snowfall is likely to begin in western areas, northern regions, and the Midlands around 3am on March 21. Cities such as Belfast, Manchester, and Stoke could experience the initial effects, with projections suggesting the snowfall may extend as far as London.
By midday on March 21, the maps show a large portion of southern England and Wales covered in purple, indicating snowfall. A significant area of England from Plymouth to Ipswich appears to be in line for snow around this time, including the capital city.
The heaviest snowfall is predicted to affect South Wales around 6pm, with the possibility of further snow in London later in the evening.
Snow coverage maps indicate that by 6am on March 22, significant areas in southern England, the Midlands, Wales, northern England, Northern Ireland, and Scotland will have snow accumulation on the ground. Continued snowfall is expected in the northeast of England and southern Scotland at that time.
