A man from the UK passed away after collapsing in a Greek hospital where he had accompanied his unwell wife for medical care. The 55-year-old vacationer was on a trip with his spouse in Kalavryta, Achaea, in southern Greece when she required urgent medical attention and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital.
Upon arrival at Kalavryta Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, the man brought his wife for treatment, and medical staff promptly attended to her, providing initial aid while she was in bed. Tragically, the man collapsed while standing by her side, as reported by local media. Doctors and nurses rushed to administer CPR, but despite their efforts, he was declared deceased shortly thereafter, according to Ekathimerini newspaper.
The exact cause of the man’s death remains undetermined, as reported by the daily Athens newspaper. Authorities will conduct an autopsy in the following days to establish the circumstances surrounding his passing. Meanwhile, the police in Kalavryta have initiated a preliminary inquiry into the incident.
