“UK Snowfall Forecast: Arctic Blast to Bring Wintry Conditions”

Date:

The Met Office has pinpointed the UK regions likely to see snowfall from late January to early February. According to the extended forecast, snow, sleet, and colder conditions are expected to return from January 23 to February 1 as a high-pressure arctic blast from the East collides with Atlantic weather patterns.

While the Atlantic front will dominate with heavy rain in most areas, certain regions, especially in the far northeast of England like Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland, and the Scottish border, could experience snowfall again.

The Met Office forecasts a battle between Atlantic weather systems pushing in from the west and high pressure bringing colder, drier conditions from the east during this period. Initially, milder Atlantic air will prevail with rain showers, but colder conditions, including snow, may become more widespread later on.

Looking ahead to the start of February, northeastern regions are likely to face wintry hazards with unsettled conditions during the first half of the month. The weather patterns are expected to evolve slowly, with a potential for cold conditions and wintry hazards. Towards mid-February, conditions may transition to be more unsettled with temperatures returning closer to average levels.
