Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams
Phone users often face the annoyance of receiving unwanted calls, with reports indicating that the average UK consumer is targeted by eight such calls monthly. These calls typically aim to acquire sensitive personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
To tackle this issue and safeguard its customers, Vodafone has unveiled a new feature called Scam Call Protection. This innovative service utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and highlight suspicious calls, including potential scams, spam, and nuisance calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, the system scrutinizes all incoming calls. If any irregularity is detected, users receive a simple on-screen alert notifying them of a possible scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, emphasized the importance of staying vigilant against evolving scam tactics. He noted that the Scam Call Protection service on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile offers customers an added layer of security by actively monitoring calls and flagging known or suspected scam attempts. This enhancement underscores Vodafone’s commitment to delivering comprehensive digital security solutions that empower users to navigate the digital landscape confidently.
Scam Call Protection is integrated into Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which also includes advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to combat identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
Interested individuals can explore the service free of charge for three months, following which a subscription fee of £2 per month applies.
