A police sergeant and mother of two, Coleen Mellor, was discovered deceased at her home by her ex-husband, leading to heart-wrenching sorrow among her loved ones. Coleen, who served with West Yorkshire Police, passed away at the age of 40 on January 15. Her ex-husband, Craig Mellor, found her lifeless when he visited to collect their dog. The circumstances surrounding her death are not suspicious.
Described as a compassionate and wonderful mother by a close friend, Coleen leaves behind her two children, Noah, aged 16, and Charlie, aged 12. It is believed that Coleen took her own life. Craig, who had been separated from Coleen since 2025 but maintained a close relationship, expressed his bewilderment at the tragic event. He recalled the pleasant Christmas they had spent together and how they planned to always celebrate as a family.
The grieving family has delayed arranging a funeral as Noah is currently taking his GCSE exams. A GoFundMe page has been set up by Coleen’s best friend, Elisia Sharpe, to provide support for the family during this challenging time. The fundraiser aims to offer the boys, Noah and Charlie, the space they need to mourn and begin the healing process.
Coleen was not just a dedicated police sergeant but also a cherished mother, daughter, sister, and friend. The community is rallying around Craig and the boys to offer them the support they need. Noah’s upcoming exams and Charlie’s school year add to the weight of their loss as they face a future without their beloved mother.
