The world’s tallest man, Sultan Kosen, standing at a remarkable height of 8 feet 3 inches, recently shared the heartbreaking reason behind his divorce, expressing deep sadness. Sultan, who has held the Guinness World Record for 17 years, married Merve Dibo in 2013, stating that he deeply loved her and cherished the idea of starting a family together.
Their wedding, attended by 1,500 guests, was a grand affair where Sultan professed his love for Merve, believing it to be true love upon looking into her eyes. Despite initial rumors of trouble in their relationship shortly after the marriage, both Sultan and Merve publicly denied any issues, with Merve affirming her commitment to their union.
However, Sultan, who suffers from gigantism and acromegaly due to a pituitary gland tumor, recently opened up about their divorce in a Channel 4 documentary. Sadly, he disclosed that the marriage could not endure as Merve chose to prioritize her family, leading to their separation. Reflecting on their past, Sultan expressed deep sorrow, stating that revisiting their wedding photos brought back emotional memories and deep regret.
The challenges of health issues, family dynamics, and public attention eventually took a toll on their relationship, leading to their eventual split. Sultan, hailing from a family of average height Turkish farmers, expressed a desire to find happiness with a new partner but remains uncertain about the possibility.
Living with gigantism since his twenties, Sultan faces constant pain and mobility difficulties, requiring the use of wheelchairs and crutches. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries on his legs and brain to manage his condition, he longs to improve his mobility and lead a more active lifestyle.
Sultan’s brother, Hasan Kosen, mentioned that Sultan could find greater joy in life with a girlfriend to share it with, hinting at the potential for a fresh start. However, Sultan humorously remarked on his appearance, jokingly attributing his single status to his perceived lack of attractiveness.
Throughout his journey, Sultan remains resilient, expressing a desire for change in his life, particularly in regaining the ability to run, walk, and explore the world more freely.
