An impressive number of 10,000 England supporters are en route to Dallas to witness the team’s World Cup opener against Croatia on Wednesday. Among them are the families of England players who secured 1,000 tickets for each group match. Notable footballers like Barcelona’s Anthony Gordon, 25, and Arsenal’s captain Declan Rice, 27, expressed their excitement for the upcoming matches.
Gordon, participating in his first World Cup, eagerly anticipates hearing the national anthem during the team lineup. Rice, serving as England’s vice-captain, emphasized the thrill of the first game after a long wait, urging everyone to savor the experience.
The England Supporters Travel Club distributed tickets to approximately 3,315 members, while an additional 7,618 dedicated fans secured their seats through the FIFA website. The impressive Dallas stadium, with a reduced capacity of 70,649, will also host numerous expatriates, enhancing the fan presence.
ITV’s coverage of the tournament featured two devoted England supporters, including Robert Didd, who has attended every home game since 1986, totaling 222 consecutive matches. Despite the substantial financial commitment of around £500,000, Didd treasures the experiences of following his country across 76 countries.
Thomas Concannon, from the England Supporters’ Association, detailed a road trip to Dallas, highlighting the picturesque American countryside. With scorching temperatures expected, fans are advised to carry water for the 3pm kick-off.
Various fans, like Chris Thomas and George Smith, are embarking on journeys from different parts of the US to attend the games, showcasing their dedication and excitement for England’s World Cup campaign.
