A man accused of sexually assaulting a woman he met online, while already under investigation for a previous alleged attack, has been granted bail for the third time. Andrew Dent, aged 54, faces charges related to assaulting a woman in her 30s at a hotel in West Berkshire and taking intimate photos without her consent in June 2024. Dent was initially arrested that month and later granted bail following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service, as mentioned by Thames Valley Police.
Subsequently, a second alleged victim in her 50s reported being targeted at an address in Henley-on-Thames, Oxon, four months later in October 2024. Dent was arrested again and released on bail for a second time, according to a police spokesperson.
After his initial appearance at Reading Magistrates’ Court, Dent was remanded in custody on February 24. A closed hearing via video link at Reading Crown Court, presided over by Judge Sarah Campbell at the magistrates’ court, followed.
A police representative later confirmed Dent’s bail, requiring a security of £50,000, with the specific bail conditions remaining undisclosed.
Dent’s professional background includes roles as a marketing manager at a luxury department store in Knightsbridge during the 1990s and as Head of Promotions at Times Newspapers Ltd, according to a 2013 press release. Presently, he serves as the CEO and publisher of Family Traveller magazine, described on its website as one of the “world’s largest and most influential family travel media brands.”
The magazine has boasted a roster of esteemed editorial contributors, including figures such as Tom Parker Bowles, Mariella Frostrup, and BBC TV explorer Simon Reeve, as highlighted in the 2013 release.
Residing in High Wycombe, Bucks, Dent faces multiple charges, including nine counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault by penetration, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of voyeurism.
According to Thames Valley Police, the charges stem from allegations involving two women who were subjected to rape, sexual assault, strangulation, and physical assault on separate occasions after encountering the defendant on a dating platform. One victim, in her 30s from South Wales, reported an attack and unauthorized intimate photography, while the other victim, in her 50s from London, detailed an incident at the Henley-on-Thames location on October 26, 2024.
Following his custody remand on February 24, Dent was granted bail by Judge Campbell during the hearing on Wednesday and is scheduled for his next court appearance at Reading Crown Court later in the month.
Dent’s magazine, Family Traveller, part of a global media group, launched in the UK in 2013 and expanded to Germany in 2016, the US in 2018, Asia in 2022, and Canada in 2023. The publication prides itself on being a leading family travel media brand, reaching a vast readership worldwide each month.
In 2018, Dent was captured at the Diplomatic Beach Resort in Hollywood, FL, where he spearheaded the launch of Family Traveller Magazine and website in the U.S. The event, held at the resort’s upscale lounge, Nokku, was co-hosted by Dent, who shared insights on targeting the affluent family travel demographic.
In a 2016 interview about achieving success in business, Dent emphasized the importance of qualities such as determination, hard work, networking, resilience, belief in one’s product, and maintaining innovation.
