Drivers nationwide encountered disruption when a well-known parking application experienced technical difficulties. RingGo, a platform enabling drivers to pay for parking through a mobile app or online portal, suffered an outage that lasted several hours on Thursday. The outage was initially detected by Downdetector, which highlighted user-reported issues. A spokesperson from RingGo later acknowledged a disruption to the company’s internal systems.
Numerous individuals took to social media to express frustration over the situation. One user shared their struggle of attempting to pay for parking without success, expressing concern about potential fines. Another user raised similar concerns about the app malfunction, questioning the possibility of receiving a penalty.
Amidst the chaos, a third user criticized RingGo’s service, pointing out issues with the app, phone support, and website functionality, questioning the impact on drivers receiving parking fines. Additionally, a motorist reported spending 20 minutes trying to access the service through RingGo’s online chat.
In response to the complaints, a RingGo representative acknowledged the intermittent issues and assured users that efforts were underway to rectify the situation promptly. George Chamberlain, RingGo’s Communications Manager for the UK and Ireland, addressed the disruption, emphasizing the company’s commitment to restoring normal service and keeping customers informed.
RingGo, operating in 17,000 locations across 500 UK towns and cities, is a subsidiary of the Swedish parking technology company Arrive, formerly known as the EasyPark Group. By the afternoon, all RingGo services had been restored to full functionality.
