An NHS physician has been taken into custody for an alleged sexual offense involving a minor.
The doctor, employed at Morriston Hospital in Swansea, has been immediately suspended, as confirmed by the health board. Authorities reported that a 52-year-old man from Sketty in Swansea was apprehended on suspicion of enticing a girl between the ages of 13 and 15 to partake in sexual activities.
South Wales Police responded to a residence in Sketty, Swansea, at approximately 8 pm on Tuesday after receiving a tip from a vigilante group focusing on pedophilia. The individual has been released on bail pending further investigation.
A representative from Swansea Bay University Health Board explained that the decision to suspend the doctor was prompted by the gravity of the accusations. They mentioned that law enforcement had been informed of a video circulating on social media involving one of their staff members.
The police spokesperson stated that officers were dispatched to Rhyd yr Helyg, Sketty, Swansea around 7:50 pm on Tuesday, February 3, following a report of child sex offenses involving a man. The 52-year-old suspect from Sketty, Swansea, was detained on suspicion of soliciting a girl aged 13 to 15 for sexual activities and has been granted conditional release for further investigation.
