A significant snowstorm is expected to hit the UK by the end of the week, with weather models indicating the potential for several inches of snowfall.
The GFS weather model projects snowfall across the entire UK on Sunday, affecting regions in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Cities such as London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle, Belfast, and Edinburgh are likely to experience snowfall.
The snow is forecasted to start in Northern Ireland and western areas early Sunday morning, gradually moving eastward throughout the day. By midday, heavy snow is expected in Wales, Scotland, north-west England, the West Midlands, and parts of southern England. Flurries are anticipated to reach London, Yorkshire, and the north-east later in the day, with the most intense snowfall expected over Southampton.
The snow front is predicted to move into the North Sea by 6pm, affecting East Anglia as well. By the end of the day, approximately 90% of the country could have snow cover, with exceptions in the south-west of England, parts of Wales, and Northern Ireland.
