“Grandmother Speaks Out on 6-Month Anniversary”

Date:

On the six-month anniversary of four-year-old Gus Lamont’s disappearance, his grandmother has come forward to share her thoughts.

Gus Lamont, a young child, was last observed at his residence on September 27, 2025. Since then, authorities from South Australian Police have been actively investigating the case, conducting inquiries at the Lamont family’s remote Oak Park Station, situated approximately 40 kilometers south of Yunta.

Initial investigations by the police explored various possibilities, including the potential abduction of Gus by an unfamiliar individual. However, this hypothesis was dismissed due to the lack of evidence supporting an abduction.

Current investigations are focusing on the theory that someone known to Gus may have played a role in his disappearance and suspected demise. Detectives have labeled this search as the most extensive in South Australian history for a missing person. A comprehensive search operation involving ground and aerial units was initiated following Gus’s disappearance.

The search area covers a vast expanse of at least 706 square kilometers, with the support of 80 Australian Defence Force personnel, drones, mounted officers, and aircraft. Approximately 163 officers from SA Police have been deployed to aid in the search efforts.

Despite a thorough three-day exploration of six mine shafts near Oak Park Station, no significant evidence was uncovered. The case has sparked public interest, with Crime Stoppers receiving over 500 tips, but so far, no arrests have been made related to Gus’s disappearance.

In a recent development, authorities declared Gus as deceased and classified his disappearance as a major criminal case.

Today marks the half-year anniversary of Gus vanishing from his grandparents’ expansive Oak Park Station near Yunta in South Australia’s Mid North region. Despite the extensive search operations conducted by South Australian Police, no traces of Gus have been located.

Gus’s grandparents, Shannon and Josie Murray, have both engaged prominent defense attorneys in Adelaide. Josie retained Andrew Ey, while Shannon is being represented by Casey Isaacs, who issued a statement on Shannon’s behalf, as Shannon was the last person known to have seen Gus alive.

According to Isaacs, Shannon continues to support Josie, cooperates through legal representation, and remains hopeful for any breakthrough in finding Gus soon, as stated to the Adelaide Advertiser.

Earlier, Shannon and Josie Murray issued a joint statement following the identification
