Authorities have reported the death of a man due to a stabbing incident in close proximity to a primary school.
Following reports of a man sustaining severe injuries, emergency services, including armed officers, swiftly responded to Bridge Road in Alum Rock, Birmingham, shortly after noon.
West Midlands Police later confirmed the unfortunate passing of a man in his twenties. A 32-year-old suspect was apprehended and is currently under police custody, with authorities clarifying that the incident is not linked to terrorism.
Additionally, a woman sustained injuries deemed non life-threatening or life-altering.
Detective Superintendent James Munro expressed condolences to the man’s family, assuring that the situation appears contained with a suspect in custody.
Munro urged anyone with relevant information to come forward, mentioning ongoing CCTV footage reviews and community interviews while acknowledging the distressing nature of the incident and the deployment of additional officers to provide support.
