An investigation has been initiated into Jeffrey Epstein’s ranch, where a valuable artefact known as the “death bell” may be missing. The convicted sex offender owned multiple properties in the US, including an expansive 8,000-acre estate called Zorro Ranch in New Mexico. Acting on new information from the Epstein Files, the state’s attorney general, Raúl Torrez, ordered a search of the property this week.
Allegations have surfaced that Epstein may have buried the bodies of two girls near his secluded New Mexico home. The FBI had previously probed the possibility that the ranch housed a stolen “death bell,” a centuries-old artefact that was once located at the San Jose de Gracia Mission Church in Las Trampas. The bell, made of gold and silver, went missing during a renovation in the 1930s.
Recent disclosures from the Epstein Files have raised concerns about why authorities did not investigate the ranch in 2019. An individual informed the FBI in November 2019 about a bell resembling the historic “death bell” seen in images of the Zorro Ranch. Despite Epstein’s arrest in 2019 and a search of his New York City residence, law enforcement did not inspect his New Mexico property thoroughly.
An anonymous email received by a radio host in 2019 alleged that Epstein had ordered the burial of two foreign girls near Zorro Ranch. The email, supposedly from a former staff member, claimed the girls died from strangulation during sexual activities. The FBI has been forwarded this information for further investigation.
The New Mexico Department of Justice is urging individuals with credible information about these events to come forward and assist the authorities.
