An arrest has been made in connection with the investigation involving Lucy Letby, the nurse linked to multiple deaths. Cheshire Constabulary conducted a search at a residence and apprehended a suspect for allegedly obstructing justice. The individual was later released on bail pending further investigations.
Letby, aged 36 and hailing from Hereford, received a sentence of 15 whole-life orders for the murder of seven infants and the attempted murder of seven others during a period spanning from June 2015 to June 2016. The incidents occurred while Letby was employed as a nurse in the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
A mother featured in a recent Netflix documentary recounting the experience with Letby expressed deep sorrow and anger over the loss of her child. The investigation, known as Operation Duet, focuses on potential corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter at the hospital.
The arrested individual, believed to be part of the leadership team at the hospital, is under scrutiny for alleged obstruction of justice. Cheshire Constabulary rejected claims made by Sir David Davis regarding the force’s conduct, emphasizing the necessity for fact-based scrutiny.
Letby’s case is currently under review by the Criminal Cases Review Commission following unsuccessful attempts to appeal her convictions in 2024.
