Man Admits to Hiding Woman’s Body in Freezer, Denies Murder

Date:

A man has confessed to hiding the body of a woman whose remains were discovered in a freezer, but has denied charges of murdering her and killing five guinea pigs.

George Gordon, aged 65, is facing allegations of murdering Delia McInerney before her body was found in an apartment in St Helens, Merseyside, in January.

Appearing via video link from prison at Liverpool Crown Court, Gordon, dressed in a grey jumper and jogging bottoms with thinning white hair, entered a not guilty plea for causing harm to protected animals by allegedly killing five guinea pigs.

Recent information reveals that Gordon previously admitted to impeding a lawful burial of a deceased body and hindering a coroner by concealing the body between April 2023 and January 2026.

Additionally, he acknowledged three charges of fraud through false representation and theft related to Ms. McInerney but maintained his plea of innocence for murder and animal cruelty involving the guinea pigs.

Ms. McInerney, who would have turned 64 when her body was found, hailed from Anfield, Liverpool.

In a statement released by the police following her passing, her sister Rita McInerney described her as a talented artist, a spirited individual, and a rebel with a dynamic and caring personality.

Rita McInerney expressed, “She was cherished as a sister and friend. I will forever miss her.”

Gordon, residing at Gerards Court, St Helens, is scheduled for trial on October 12, with proceedings expected to span six weeks.
