“UK Braces for Record-Breaking 35C Heatwave Surge”

Date:

Weather forecasts indicate that some regions in the country may experience exceptionally high temperatures of 35C on Tuesday. The UK is currently in the midst of a prolonged heatwave, with record-breaking temperatures predicted by the Met Office for May. Heat health alerts have been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) across England.

The latest UKV weather model suggests that the East of England could reach 35C around 3 pm on Tuesday. Additionally, the model shows that 15 counties, including Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, and Norfolk, could see temperatures of 33C or higher.

The UKHSA has issued amber heat health alerts in five regions, namely the East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, and the South East. The agency warns of significant impacts on health and social care services due to the extreme temperatures in these areas.

Border checks at Dover have been suspended due to long queues caused by the heatwave. Meteorologists predict that multiple temperature records may be broken in the upcoming days, with parts of the UK potentially experiencing higher temperatures than the Seychelles.

As the heatwave subsides, temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with some regions possibly reaching as low as -1C. UV levels will remain high over the weekend, prompting the Met Office to advise caution when in the sea, as water temperatures are still relatively low.

The ECMWF weather model indicates the possibility of rain bringing an end to the heatwave, starting from the evening of May 31. The rain is forecasted to move eastwards across the UK, with showers expected in various regions by June 1.
