Residents in Kent are expressing frustration over water supply disruptions from South East Water during a severe heatwave. The widespread interruptions have impacted tens of thousands of customers, with some areas experiencing complete water outages while others have faced intermittent supply or low pressure, leading to business closures.
As of Thursday, over 22,000 people have reported water supply issues, with warnings that the problems may persist through the weekend. Local residents have criticized the water company for its handling of the crisis, describing the situation as unacceptable.
One resident, Pat Prestage, shared her experience of being left without water, highlighting the challenges faced due to the outage. She expressed disappointment with the company’s response to the situation, emphasizing the need for better infrastructure planning and customer service.
Another customer, a 90-year-old individual, expressed frustration at the lack of access to water during this critical time. South East Water has assured customers that efforts are underway to resolve the issues, with some areas already seeing improvements in water supply. However, intermittent service is expected to continue in various regions due to high demand exacerbated by the heatwave.
Residents in affected areas have been urged to conserve water for essential purposes until the supply stabilizes.
