Teenager’s Body Found in River After Car Accident

Date:

The body of a teenager who had been missing for two weeks following a car accident has been discovered in a river. Declan Berry, 18, was a passenger in a car that went off the road and into the River Nene near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, on March 17. Eden Bunn, aged 16 and another occupant of the vehicle, was found deceased shortly after the incident, while three other teenagers sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

Authorities had been conducting a search for Declan since the accident occurred. Recently, police confirmed that the body found in the river belonged to the missing teenager. The discovery was made at Crab Marsh, located approximately four miles downstream from the crash site. The river flows northbound through Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, and eventually reaches The Wash further north.

A representative from Cambridgeshire Police stated, “Police have recovered a body from the river at Crab Marsh, Wisbech. Declan’s family has been informed, and we ask for their privacy to be respected during this difficult time for them. Our investigation into this tragic accident continues, and we urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Declan, a resident of Wisbech, had aspirations to join the British Army in the upcoming summer, as shared by his family in an online tribute. Describing him as a hardworking and dedicated young man, the family expressed their fond memories of him, highlighting his joyful and caring nature that touched many lives.

Following the accident, extensive search efforts were carried out by family members and emergency services along the river. Floral tributes have been left at the site in memory of Eden. Her family paid tribute to her kind and loving personality, emphasizing her passion for her horses and the profound impact she had on their lives.

This tragedy echoes a recent incident where three teenagers lost their lives near Shifnal, Shropshire. The teens were involved in a fatal accident on a rural road east of Telford. The circumstances of the crash involved multiple vehicles, including a silver Audi A1, a red Vauxhall Corsa, and a black VW Golf, although not all the vehicles were directly involved in the collision itself.
