Police in Hackney have initiated a homicide investigation following a fatal stabbing of a man earlier today. The incident occurred at approximately 1:42 pm on Downs Park Road near Mossbourne Community Academy and Hackney Downs Park.
Authorities have clarified that the stabbing does not involve any students from the school and is considered an isolated occurrence. The victim, a male in his late 20s, passed away at the scene, with his family notified and receiving support from specialized personnel.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the Metropolitan Police continue with their inquiries. A murder probe has been officially launched, with Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command stating that the investigation is in its initial phases. He urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke, responsible for policing in the area, expressed concern over the incident happening near a school during daylight hours. However, she assured the public that there is no indication of school involvement and that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
