Mother of Murderer Jailed for Evidence Tampering

Date:

Kiran Kaur, the mother of murderer Vickrum Digwa, has been sentenced to three years in jail for tampering with evidence by removing the knife used in the killing of Henry Nowak from the crime scene. The incident occurred on December 3, 2025, in Southampton, where she assisted her son by taking the weapon back to their family home.

Following a trial at Southampton Crown Court, the 53-year-old resident of St Denys Road was found guilty by jurors. Her son, Digwa, aged 23, had been previously sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years on June 1 for the murder of the 18-year-old finance student. He falsely alleged that Mr. Nowak had racially abused him.

During the sentencing, Judge William Mousley KC remarked that a responsible parent would have confronted their child’s actions and encouraged them to do the right thing. Instead, Kaur chose to conceal the knife by placing it among other ceremonial and miscellaneous weapons in Digwa’s bedroom.

The murder weapon, identified as a 21cm (8in) knife, played a crucial role in the crime.
