A woman has tragically passed away in Newport after an altercation, prompting a murder investigation. Police, including specialized firearms units, responded to an incident outside a property on St Vincent Road during the early hours of Saturday. The woman, who has not been formally identified, was pronounced dead by paramedics near Chepstow Road. A 66-year-old man from Newport was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody. The woman’s family has been notified and is receiving support from trained officers.
Chief Superintendent John Davies stated that the situation is unsettling for the community and assured that the arrested man is the only suspect in connection with the death.
