Police are in pursuit of a man who disappeared at a lake yesterday, with police divers and helicopters reportedly aiding in the search effort. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at Llyn Geirionydd, a 45-acre lake situated in the Carneddau mountains of Snowdonia, Wales.
The man was reported missing around 7:10 pm, prompting emergency services to respond to the scene. Despite intensive searches conducted overnight, the man remains unaccounted for, and his family has been informed. Search operations will persist at the lake with an escalated emergency service presence.
Local witnesses observed a helicopter circling the lake at approximately 8 pm, while others noted a substantial emergency response and the presence of police divers. Just eleven days ago, the body of a 21-year-old man was recovered from the same lake. Llyn Geirionydd is a favored spot for water sports enthusiasts, attracting kayakers, and being the sole lake within Eryri National Park where speedboats are allowed.
North Wales Police has advised the public to steer clear of the lake area during the ongoing search. A spokesperson emphasized the support being provided to the immediate family and urged individuals who were present at the lake on the evening in question, and have not yet spoken to the authorities, to come forward.
