“British Surfer Arran Strong Missing Off Portuguese Coast”

Date:

A British surfer named Arran Strong has gone missing near the Portuguese coast when his companion noticed his surfboard adrift in the water. The 27-year-old vanished on Monday morning while being approximately a mile away from Arrifana.

Emergency services, including lifeboat crews and firefighters, initiated a widespread search operation following the alert raised around 11:30 am on Monday. The search efforts have resumed this morning after a pause overnight to locate him.

Despite battling the rare Alpha-1 Antitrypsin disease, Arran gained recognition for taking on some of Europe’s largest waves. He proudly represented Great Britain at the 2024 and 2025 ISA World Surfing Games.

Recounting the moment when he noticed Arran’s drifting board, Mr. Pyrrait described their close bond and the frantic search that ensued.

Expressing deep sorrow, a spokesperson for Surfing England mourned Arran Strong’s passing and highlighted his positive impact within the surfing community. Acknowledging Arran’s talent and sportsmanship, the spokesperson emphasized his kindness and the lasting impression he left on those around him.

The heartfelt condolences extend to Arran’s family, friends, and all those touched by his presence during this challenging period.
