A young dancer who passed away at a well-known beauty spot was described by her grieving family as someone who brought solace and happiness to everyone she encountered.
Freya MacLean, aged 19, tragically lost her life in an incident at the Falls of Falloch near Stirling after reports emerged of a woman struggling in the water around 10:45 pm on Friday. Her body was found the next day at approximately 11:45 am. Her parents, Samantha and Ruaraidh, honored Freya, who was studying primary education at Glasgow University.
“Freya, cherished by her family, friends, and the broader community, was a truly kind soul whose generosity was boundless,” they shared with the Daily Record.
“Known for her warm smile, contagious laughter, and compassionate heart, Freya touched the lives of many with comfort and joy. She was always there for others, offering unwavering support, motivation, and empathy.
“Her presence illuminated every room, and her love, humor, and gentle nature have left an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. While her time among us was brief, her legacy of kindness and love will endure forever.
“The family is grateful for the outpouring of support and requests privacy during this period. The world is dimmer without her, but richer for having had her in it.”
A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated, “The circumstances surrounding the death are currently unexplained, with no apparent signs of foul play.”
Following her passing, a GoFundMe initiative was initiated by JC Dance and Cheer Academy, raising nearly £2,000 thus far.
Organizers Charlene McDonald and Laura-Jane Gelston expressed, “We tragically lost our beloved Glitter Girl, Freya, in a heart-wrenching accident.

“Her vibrant spirit brightened every room, and her absence will be deeply felt.
“We aim to collect funds to assist with the unforeseen expenses facing Freya’s family during this challenging time and to convey our thoughts to them.
“Please continue to keep Freya’s family in your thoughts, along with all the girls privileged to have her as a friend, dance partner, and share countless memories together.
