A 16-year-old boy in Italy has confessed to pushing his 13-year-old ex-girlfriend off a seventh-floor balcony, resulting in her death. The incident occurred in Piacenza, where the boy, who was 15 at the time of the murder, admitted his actions during an appeal of his 17-year prison sentence.
Initially, the boy had falsely claimed that the girl had taken her own life, but he later apologized for the deception and acknowledged his responsibility for her death. The confession came after detectives discovered inconsistencies in his account of the events leading to the girl’s fall.
According to prosecutors, the couple had been in a relationship that ended due to the boy’s possessive behavior. Messages from the victim to her friends indicated that she felt harassed by her ex-boyfriend, who was described as stalking her.
A witness reported seeing the girl clinging to the balcony railing while the boy struck her hands, causing her to fall. During the trial, a former cellmate of the boy testified that he had confessed to pushing the victim. The court found the murder aggravated by stalking, the victim’s age, and the previous relationship between the two.
Following the boy’s confession, the victim’s mother’s lawyer expressed hope that the court would uphold the appropriate penalty established in the initial sentence. The appeal hearing has been adjourned until September pending a report on the boy’s behavior.
