“Centenarian Poker Pro: World’s Oldest Player Signs Ambassador Deal”

Date:

A centenarian who has dedicated his life to playing poker has achieved the title of the world’s oldest paid professional player. Ivor Parker, who first engaged with the game at the age of 14, has amassed 86 years of experience at the poker tables since his debut hand in a pub in Boston, Lincs in 1940.

Throughout his poker journey, Ivor has emphasized the importance of qualities such as patience, resilience, strategy, and a competitive spirit for success in the game. He believes that poker stands out as a competitive activity where seasoned skills like decision-making and composure remain crucial, irrespective of age.

Hailing from Ab Kettleby, Leicestershire, Ivor has recently signed a full-time ambassadorship deal with GGPoker. His ambassadorship commenced with a VIP event at Grosvenor Casinos ahead of the Goliath 2026 poker tournament.

Reflecting on his enduring passion for poker, Ivor expressed his lifelong love for the game and highlighted the continuous learning experience it offers. Alongside his poker pursuits, Ivor, a two-time married father of five, worked as a production operative for East Midlands Farmer until the age of 98.

In acknowledging the evolution of poker over the years, Ivor noted the increased strategic depth and the presence of numerous skilled players in the contemporary poker scene. He credits poker for keeping him mentally sharp and expresses gratitude for the game’s enriching experiences.

Leah Hauer, a brand ambassador for GGPoker, commended Ivor’s qualities of patience, discipline, and astute decision-making, emphasizing the valuable lessons one can glean from sharing the poker table with seasoned players like Ivor.

Angela Martin, the head of marketing at GGPoker, lauded the inclusive and enriching nature of poker, highlighting the game’s ability to bring people together, foster continuous learning, and promote personal growth. Ivor’s embodiment of these values makes him a fitting addition to Team GGPoker as they gear up for the Goliath tournament.

The upcoming tournament at Grosvenor Casino Coventry is expected to draw over 6,000 players, transforming the city into a vibrant hub for live poker enthusiasts.
