“Elderly Woman Defiant After Synagogue Firebombing”

Date:

An 82-year-old woman defiantly stated that she will continue attending services at a London synagogue despite a recent firebomb attack. Rhona Brickman, a long-time member of the Kenton Synagogue in Harrow, expressed her horror and determination in the face of escalating attacks on the Jewish community in the UK.

The incident, where a molotov cocktail was thrown through a window at midnight, prompted a police response. Fortunately, the device did not properly ignite, averting a potential disaster. Despite her fears for the country’s safety, Rhona emphasized the importance of standing strong against intimidation.

Another member of the congregation, who preferred to remain anonymous, highlighted the fortunate circumstances that prevented a more significant fire. The Metropolitan Police revealed that similar incidents over a 48-hour period were linked to a group called Ashab al‑Yamin, known for claiming attacks on Jewish targets in Europe.

Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis condemned the attack as cowardly, while Prime Minister Keir Starmer vowed increased visible policing to combat such violence targeting Londoners and the Jewish community. Deputy Commissioner Matt Jukes assured the public of heightened police presence and vigilance in the coming days to address the threats posed by such criminal acts.

Jukes warned potential perpetrators that law enforcement would pursue them vigorously, emphasizing that criminal acts of intimidation would not go unpunished. He underscored the importance of swift and decisive action to protect the community from further harm.
