A charitable fundraiser, who is facing the same fatal dementia that claimed the lives of 12 of his family members, has been given a special opportunity to attend the World Cup by a prominent player of the England national team.
Jordan Adams, aged 31, has traveled to Atlanta to watch the England versus Argentina match after being generously offered a ticket by Kobbie Mainoo, a standout midfielder of the team. This gesture came in response to Jordan’s heartfelt request for a ticket, which gained significant attention as he made his way from Heathrow to Atlanta.
Jordan’s remarkable efforts in fundraising for Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) have not gone unnoticed, as FIFA has joined forces with his advocacy organization to further support his cause.
Through social media, Jordan shared his excitement about attending the Atlanta match after Mainoo’s invitation following his viral plea. In a video posted on the “theFTDbrothers” Instagram account, Jordan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to fulfill a long-held dream despite his terminal prognosis of developing FTD.
Mainoo’s response to Jordan’s plea resulted in securing tickets for the fundraiser, leading Jordan to express his gratitude once again on social media. He acknowledged Mainoo’s kindness and highlighted his eagerness to attend the match as a special guest of FIFA, emphasizing the importance of raising dementia awareness through their collaboration.
As part of the FTD Brothers organization, Jordan and his brother Cian strive to raise awareness about FTD, the disease that tragically took their mother’s life in 2016. Their relentless efforts have raised close to £2 million for dementia research, honoring their mother’s memory and raising awareness about the genetic risk they both face of developing FTD in their 40s.
The brothers, hailing from Redditch in Worcestershire, are dedicated to making a positive impact in the fight against dementia and living life to the fullest, despite the looming threat of the disease.
