Having worked at Morrisons for three years, I have gathered valuable insights on cost-saving strategies. While approaches may vary between stores, shopping early in the day or close to closing time is generally recommended.

Morning

Early morning shopping or nearing closing hours presents opportunities for discounted items. Mornings often unveil reduced products nearing their expiry date, providing a diverse selection for shoppers.

Items marked down the day before their expiration date, such as those expiring on June 25 being reduced on June 24, are commonly found during this time, offering discounts, albeit usually around 25% off.

Additionally, slightly damaged yet safe-to-consume products are often placed on the yellow sticker shelf, even if their expiration dates are not imminent.

Lunchtime

Midday typically sees fewer discounted offerings as prime deals are often snagged in the morning, leaving limited reductions for the remainder of the day.

Always inspect yellow-stickered items regardless of your shopping list. This section commonly features discounted products like cooked meats, chicken bites, and thighs, often suitable for freezing and offering potential savings.
