Recently released footage captures a bold incident where a former lawyer and her accomplice were confronted by restaurant staff before absconding without settling their £62 bill.
Kerry Stevens has resurfaced in Disneyland Paris despite being wanted by the police for multiple alleged incidents of dining and dashing, including the one at The Castle Inn in Little Wakering, Essex. This incident occurred after Stevens was disbarred as a lawyer following her conviction for failing to pay £60.91 at a Harvester restaurant.
She has skipped court appearances on at least nine occasions and is currently the subject of four arrest warrants. Social media posts depict Stevens in Disneyland Paris, with a family friend suggesting she has fled to the historical region of Lorraine (Grand Est) in northeastern France.
The new footage shows a tense confrontation inside the deserted Castle Inn, where Stevens and her suspected partner-in-crime Daniel Alani allegedly attempted to leave without paying a bill of £62.20.
The video captures an interaction at the restaurant involving Stevens and three other individuals. In the footage, the 40-year-old is seated at a table, placing a bag beside her, before Alani joins her at the adjacent table.
A standing man engages in conversation with the former lawyer, who promptly picks up her bag and attempts to leave. Another man, visibly annoyed, moves to follow her, while the third person extends a hand to prevent her exit.
The exchange continues as Stevens tries to depart but is blocked and pushed back into the room before the video ends. As the footage lacks audio, the discussion remains unknown.
According to the restaurant staff, the couple allegedly fled after consuming prawn cocktail, breaded mushrooms, two roast chicken dinners with extra lamb, two cokes, an orange juice, and a medium glass of pinot wine.
Ken Todd, the landlord of The Castle Inn in Little Wakering, Essex, previously stated, “For the sake of £62, if they came in hungry, I would have gladly provided them with food.” Todd described how the man attempted to exit through a locked back door, and the woman allegedly tried to escape through a bathroom window.
Stevens had previously shared images of herself at Disneyland Paris, wearing Mickey Mouse ears and holding a bubble wand, in a post on Facebook dated May 18. A family friend disclosed that Stevens fled to France earlier this year after evading court appearances despite pleas from her family to stay.
Earlier online reports featured images of Stevens in legal attire, circulating after she made headlines for allegedly targeting restaurants and taxi services.
Facing charges of eleven counts of leaving without payment and one count of shoplifting in 2024, the mother of one denies the accusations and is scheduled for trial later this year. Stevens and accomplice Daniel Alani came under police scrutiny following an incident where patrons prevented them from leaving a pub without settling their £62 bill.
