Former Royal Aide on William and Harry Feud, Hope for Reconciliation

Date:

A former royal aide who served both Prince William and Prince Harry and developed close relationships with them has shared his thoughts on whether the brothers can reconcile their ongoing feud.

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who was the principal private secretary for the princes from 2005 to 2013, previously worked as an equerry for the late Queen and Queen Mother. During his tenure with the princes when they were in their early 20s, he built strong connections with both, especially as he assisted them through their military endeavors.

William chose him as one of Prince George’s godparents and collaborated with him on Sentebale, a charity established in memory of Princess Diana.

Despite the once-close bond between the brothers under Mr. Lowther-Pinkerton’s guidance, they have now distanced themselves due to a longstanding family feud, allegedly not communicating since the passing of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, almost four years ago.

In an interview with The Times, the former aide, now an author, tactfully avoided discussing the possibility of reconciliation between the brothers. However, he expressed his fondness for Harry, highlighting his positive qualities and optimism for the future.

He also contrasted William as the ‘Lion King’ and Harry as a ‘mischievous cub,’ emphasizing his affection for both individuals.

Recent reports suggest that Harry and Meghan will likely meet with King Charles, with whom Harry has a strained relationship, during their upcoming visit to the UK. The couple has been offered accommodations at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, but they have yet to confirm their acceptance.

Their children, Archie and Lilibet, last saw their grandfather Charles during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. Lilibet, being only one year old at the time, may not recall the encounter. Meghan has not visited the UK, except for transit stops at Heathrow Terminal, since the late Queen’s funeral.

The status of a potential meeting between Harry, Meghan, and the Prince and Princess of Wales remains uncertain. Sources describe their relationship as severely strained in recent times, with the Prince and Princess of Wales feeling hurt by the couple’s public criticisms of the royal family.

Harry and Meghan have made controversial statements about the royal family, including accusations of racism and personal attacks. William’s close associates have strongly denied any claims of physical altercations within the family.

Meghan is expected to join Harry at the Invictus event in Birmingham on July 10, while Harry has planned various charity engagements during their UK visit.
