“HGV Crash Causes Major Traffic Disruption on M1”

Date:

An incident involving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) has led to significant traffic disruption on a busy stretch of highway after the vehicle veered off the road.

The disruption occurred on the M1 southbound at junction 35 on the A629 Cowley Hill, Rotherham. Due to the accident, all traffic on the M1 was temporarily halted, causing delays for commuters in the area.

Emergency crews are currently at the scene of the HGV crash, and as a result, the entry slip road at junction 35 is closed. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.

According to the authorities, the clearance of the crash is expected to take until after midnight. However, updates suggest that normal traffic conditions are anticipated to resume gradually, with some lanes already reopened.

The National Highways agency has provided estimated time frames for the reopening of lanes and the clearance of the incident. Delays of around 30 minutes are still being reported, but with the majority of lanes now open, traffic flow is improving.

South Yorkshire Police have confirmed that the southbound carriageway of the M1 near junction 35 is closed, urging motorists to steer clear of the affected area. The ongoing situation has caused congestion in the vicinity, with efforts underway to manage the traffic disruptions effectively.
