The Canadian government has acknowledged the uncertain whereabouts of 30 Canadians and permanent residents in Nepal and Tibet. Among the missing are Dhaval and Megha Shah, a couple from Port Moody, B.C., who were on a spiritual journey in Nepal. Concerns have been raised by Nikita Shah, Dhaval’s cousin, regarding the lack of information and the need for assistance from the Canadian government.
Global Affairs Canada has dispatched five consular officials to Kathmandu to provide support to Canadians and collaborate with local authorities. The Nepal Tourism Board had initially reported 25 missing Canadians.
