Keir Starmer has supported the rejection of Andy Burnham’s bid to return to Parliament and downplayed any rift between them.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester, who has been rumored to have leadership aspirations, was denied the opportunity by a core group of the party’s national executive committee (NEC).
In response, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of upcoming elections in England, Wales, and Scotland, stressing the need to focus resources on these crucial electoral campaigns. He praised Andy Burnham’s performance as mayor of Manchester but argued against diverting attention and funds to a mayoral election that is deemed unnecessary.
