Israel has confirmed that its military personnel are currently engaged in operations in the southern region of Lebanon as part of ongoing actions against Hezbollah.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have strategically positioned troops near the border in a proactive defensive stance. Notices for forced evacuation have been issued for over 50 locations in Lebanon, particularly targeting neighborhoods in Dahiyeh with significant Shia populations, known to support Hezbollah.
Through a Telegram post, Israel declared its efforts to target Hezbollah command centers and weapon storage facilities in Beirut.
Defense Minister Israel Katz, along with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, authorized this measure to safeguard Israeli border communities from potential attacks. Katz emphasized the commitment to protect the Galilee communities and assured that no evacuation plans are in place for residents in border areas.
Recent airstrikes in Beirut and southern Lebanon resulted in 52 casualties and 154 injuries, following Hezbollah’s launch of missiles and drones towards an IDF site in Haifa.
Additionally, reports from Iranian media indicated an attack on a United States air base in Bahrain involving drones and missiles. This incident occurred amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East, now entering its fourth day.
Israel and the US conducted joint strikes on crucial Iranian locations on February 28, leading to the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran mourned the loss of 165 schoolgirls and staff in an alleged US-Israeli attack on a girls’ school in Minab.
Iran retaliated by targeting various military sites across the Middle East and beyond.
