Law enforcement authorities have apprehended a man in his thirties following the discovery of a deceased man and a severely wounded woman at a residence in Australia.
On the morning of Saturday, March 14, police were alerted to a welfare concern at a property on Gisborne Street in Wellington, situated in the Central Western Slopes region of the state. Upon reaching the rural location, law enforcement officers came across the body of an elderly man and a critically injured elderly woman.
The unidentified woman received immediate medical attention from paramedics on-site before being airlifted to a medical facility in critical condition. Concurrently, a thorough search of the vicinity led to the apprehension of a male suspect inside a neighboring fast-food establishment.
According to the complete statement issued by the New South Wales (NSW) police, “An investigation is currently ongoing subsequent to the discovery of a deceased man and a critically injured woman within a residence in the western part of the state today. Emergency services responded to a property on Gisborne Street, Wellington, at approximately 8:10 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, following reports of a welfare concern.
“Officers from the Orana Mid-Western Police District arrived at the scene and located the body of an elderly man, along with a seriously injured elderly woman inside the residence. The woman, also believed to be in her 70s, was attended to by NSW Ambulance paramedics prior to being transported by air ambulance to a medical facility in critical condition.
“A crime scene was established, and investigators from Strike Force Fedonia launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with support from the State Crime Commands Homicide Squad.
“Following an extensive search of the area, a 30-year-old male suspect was apprehended inside a fast-food restaurant on Arthur Street. He was subsequently taken to Wellington Police Station but has been released pending further investigations.”
