A man, Joshua Moore, has been sentenced to prison for a violent attack where he stabbed a male friend of a woman he assaulted and kicked the woman in the face. The incident took place in Sturminster Newton on September 30, 2025. After the attack, the male friend sustained three stab wounds and was hospitalized.
Moore fled the scene on foot but was later found in a hotel in Petersfield, Hampshire, on October 2. He had changed his appearance by dyeing his blond hair black to avoid detection. Following his arrest, Moore, a resident of Weymouth, was charged and convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating. He received a five-year prison sentence on June 5, 2026.
Detective Constable Emma Oram from Dorset County CID emphasized the severity of the assault, highlighting the potential fatal consequences of using a knife. The police department’s thorough investigation led to Moore’s apprehension despite his attempt to flee the county.
