The mother of a missing four-year-old boy has taken a bold step following her son’s unsettling disappearance. Little Gus Lamont was last seen at his family residence on September 27, 2025. Authorities now suspect the boy may no longer be alive. In response, Jessica Murray, the mother, has decided to leave her current location and relocate.
Law enforcement officials probing the perplexing case have ruled out the possibilities of abduction or the child wandering off from the expansive sheep farm in the Australian Outback where they resided. Although Jessica is not a suspect, she left the family home near Yunta, South Australia, after her son went missing and has since moved to a new place.
Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke announced that a key suspect within the boy’s family has been identified. He stated that “inconsistencies and discrepancies” in statements provided by family members have elevated the investigation to a “major crime” status.
Murray had spent her childhood at the sheep farm with her parents, Shannon and Josie. After separating from Gus’ father, Joshua Lamont, she briefly resided at a family-owned property in Adelaide following her son’s disappearance last September. Recently, she reportedly relocated again to live with a friend.
A neighbor mentioned, “She’s not there. My husband saw her pack up and leave a few days ago. She’s gone to stay with a friend.” In mid-January, investigators revisited the sheep farm for a forensic search, seizing electronics, a vehicle, and a motorbike for testing.
Detective Superintendent Fielke disclosed that a family member ceased cooperation with the police when questioned about inconsistencies in their statements. He added, “As a result of these inconsistencies, and investigations into them, a person who resides at Oak Park Station has withdrawn their support for police and is no longer cooperating with us.”
Shannon and Josie Murray expressed being “devastated” by the police update but reiterated their cooperation. Superintendent Fielke hinted at upcoming searches at Oak Park Station and surrounding areas as new information surfaces to help locate Gus.
