“Parents Remember Lane: A Decade After Disney Tragedy”

Date:

A tragic incident at Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa claimed the life of two-year-old Lane Thomas Graves a decade ago. His parents, Matt and Melissa Graves, are honoring his memory as the anniversary of his passing approaches. Describing Lane as a loving and special child, they aim to commemorate him during this challenging time.

To celebrate Lane’s life, the couple has created a nine-minute memorial video in collaboration with Today, which will be accessible on the Lane Thomas Foundation’s website. They are dedicated to turning their personal tragedy into a source of positivity for other families in need, as they promised Lane during his wake.

The devastating event occurred in 2016 while the Graves family was vacationing in Florida. Lane was playing by a lagoon near the resort when an alligator attacked him. Despite his father’s efforts to rescue him, Lane tragically lost his life. The foundation established by his parents aims to assist families facing crises similar to theirs.

Melissa and Matt Graves founded the Lane Thomas Foundation to honor their son and support families with children in need of transplants. The foundation also advocates for organ donation awareness, reflecting the love Lane left in their hearts. The couple’s goal is to provide resources for families in crisis, allowing them to focus on their child’s well-being and keeping their family united.

Despite the pain of losing Lane, Melissa and Matt found solace in welcoming their third child, Christian Lane Graves. They believe that Lane continues to watch over his siblings as their guardian angel. In response to Lane’s tragic passing, Disney took measures to remove hundreds of alligators from their properties in 2021.
