Police in Liverpool have opened an investigation following an incident of inappropriate touching on a bus. Merseyside Police shared CCTV images of a man who they believe can provide information about the incident, where a woman in her 20s was groped on a busy bus service at approximately 4.20 pm.
The incident occurred on the 10A bus route from Liverpool city center to St Helens on January 15. The victim reported that a man boarded the bus at Liverpool ONE, sat next to her, and touched her inappropriately on the leg. Despite her objections, the man persisted before eventually moving to the upper deck of the bus.
The woman, distressed by the ordeal, notified the bus driver, who confronted the suspect. However, the man fled when the bus stopped on Prescot Road, leading to a search by the authorities. Police are now urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher emphasized the seriousness of such incidents, stating that no one should endure such inappropriate behavior. He expressed concern for the victim’s well-being, describing the experience as traumatic. Efforts are underway to identify the responsible individual, with a plea for cooperation from the public in identifying the man in the CCTV images.
Individuals who have information or recognize the person in the images are encouraged to contact the authorities. Their assistance is deemed crucial in advancing the ongoing investigation.
