Princess Kate is set to attend a significant cancer research event in London this evening alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla. The event, held at London’s St James’ Palace, is in honor of Cancer Research UK’s 125th anniversary. Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales will join forces with the monarch to meet researchers, clinicians, volunteers, and partners involved in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
The event, hosted by King Charles as the patron of Cancer Research UK, will feature immersive installations showcasing the charity’s work and visual representations of how technological advancements are revolutionizing cancer research. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will also be in attendance, with the duke serving as a joint president of the charity.
It was revealed that both King Charles and Princess Kate were diagnosed with undisclosed forms of cancer in 2024. While the princess has since entered remission, the King is still undergoing treatment. Princess Kate underwent chemotherapy for her cancer and announced her remission in January 2025.
In a World Cancer Day message in February 2026, Princess Kate shared her recovery journey, emphasizing the emotional toll of illness. She acknowledged the mix of fear, exhaustion, strength, and recovery that comes with battling cancer.
Since her remission announcement, the Princess of Wales has gradually resumed her royal duties, recently embarking on her first overseas royal visit post-cancer to Italy. The visit to Reggio Emilia marked a significant milestone in her recovery journey, signaling a renewed focus on her global initiatives.
Despite his ongoing treatment, King Charles has maintained a busy schedule, including a recent state visit to the US. Buckingham Palace confirmed positive responses to his treatment, allowing for a reduced care schedule starting in 2026.
