A retired police officer believes that notorious serial killer Steve Wright may have additional victims in other countries. Chris Clark, a former PC, is writing a book about Wright, known as the Suffolk Strangler, and has contacted law enforcement agencies worldwide to identify potential cold cases linked to the killer. Clark suggests that as Wright started offending later in life, there may be undisclosed victims prior to his known crimes in 1992.
During his time working as a steward on the QE2 cruise liner, Wright allegedly targeted women during shore leave, particularly in areas known for brothels. Clark, along with co-author Tim Hicks, has reached out to authorities in over 100 destinations where Wright had visited, including various countries in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, to uncover any possible connections to unsolved cases.
Despite being convicted for the murders of five women in Ipswich in 2006, including Tania Nicol, Gemma Adams, and Anneli Alderton, Wright’s former colleague Clark remains convinced that there are more victims yet to be discovered. Clark criticized the police for not thoroughly investigating places Wright had been to and failing to connect potential cases to the serial killer.
Recently, Wright confessed to the 1999 murder of Victoria Hall and received an additional 40-year sentence. His ex-wife has raised suspicions about his involvement in the disappearance of estate agent Suzy Lamplugh. The Metropolitan Police are reviewing the original investigation into Suzy’s case and exploring any links with Wright, as they delve into his past encounters with the missing estate agent. Clark’s upcoming book, “Serial Killer: Inside the mind of Steve Wright the Suffolk Strangler,” is scheduled for release this summer.
