“Serial Dine-and-Dasher Jailed for Unpaid Pub Bill”

Date:

A man with a history of dining and dashing has been sentenced to jail for leaving an £89.45 bill unpaid at a pub in Broadstairs, Kent. Anthony Lamont, 45, claimed he couldn’t pay and tried to have his girlfriend settle the tab, but staff grew suspicious and called the police. This was the third incident of Lamont leaving without paying.

Lamont was sentenced to two weeks in jail after pleading guilty to the offense at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court. In a previous incident at The Royal Hotel in Deal, Lamont consumed multiple drinks and food, totaling £95.80, and tried to shift the payment responsibility to a friend who was not found to be staying at the hotel.

These incidents occurred while Lamont was already under a suspended sentence for a similar offense at a restaurant in Rochester. Kent Police Inspector Matthew Vick emphasized the importance of holding offenders accountable to protect local businesses from such crimes. The police work closely with businesses to ensure that such behavior is not tolerated in Kent.
