A serial sex offender faces the possibility of receiving a lifelong prison sentence after confessing to crimes involving 121 young victims. At Derby Crown Court, Siah Riley, 35, admitted to using a fake online persona as a teenage boy to coerce numerous underage individuals into sending explicit images or videos of themselves engaging in sexual acts while unclothed or partially dressed.
Riley stored screenshots of the received images on Snapchat and categorized them by the sender’s name. When the victims ceased sending photos, he resorted to blackmail, threatening to expose the images, as reported by Derbyshire Live. The court revealed that during his criminal activities, Riley, residing on Walbrook Road in Derby, targeted girls as young as 12 years old. It was emphasized that all 121 victims were genuine individuals, not decoy profiles created by vigilante groups or law enforcement officers posing as minors to apprehend offenders.
In a swift court proceeding, Riley admitted guilt to 144 out of the 145 charges filed against him. The remaining charge of arranging or facilitating a child sex offense will be kept on record. Judge Shaun Smith KC remanded Riley into custody and postponed sentencing to a later date in the spring, expressing the likelihood of a lengthy prison term due to the gravity of the case and the high number of victims.
The offenses to which Riley confessed occurred between 2021 and 2023, with a mix of UK-based victims and some presumed to be from overseas. The sentencing hearing for Riley is scheduled for May 7, anticipated to span the entire day.
