Snooker luminaries gathered to honor the late John Virgo in a heartfelt church ceremony. Virgo, affectionately known as JV, was commemorated during a poignant memorial at Sheffield Cathedral nearly two months after his passing at the age of 79 in Mijas Costa, Spain.
Esteemed players such as Stephen Hendry, Steve Davis, Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor, John Parrott, and Ken Doherty were among the notable figures who paid their respects at the event, joined by Virgo’s family, including his spouse Rosie Ries, and his adult children Gary and Brook-Leah.
Reflecting on Virgo’s legacy, six-time world champion Davis expressed deep sorrow at the loss, highlighting Virgo’s unique charm and camaraderie. He emphasized Virgo’s significant contributions to the sport as a cherished commentator who elevated every match.
