“Teenager Banned from Protests After Admitting Violence”

Date:

An 18-year-old individual has confessed to tossing a bottle at law enforcement officers during a protest led by Henry Nowak in Southampton that escalated into violence. The teenager is now prohibited from participating in gatherings.

Callum Cool, who was 17 at the time of the protest on June 2, pleaded guilty to engaging in violent disorder during a court session at Southampton Magistrates’ Court. District Judge Robinson imposed conditions, including fitting Cool with an electronic tag for a home curfew and prohibiting him from attending any protest or gathering exceeding 10 individuals.

Residing at Robinia Green in Southampton, the teenager was granted conditional bail to attend a sentencing session at Southampton Crown Court on June 29. Judge Robinson informed him that failing to appear on June 29 could constitute a new offense, emphasizing the importance of compliance with the bail conditions.

The protest on June 2 attracted around 1,000 individuals outside Southampton Central Police Station. Subsequently, hundreds of people moved to the Portswood area where the late Mr. Nowak had been and where the violence erupted.

Cool is the 23rd person facing charges related to the protest, with 13 individuals having already received jail sentences. The protest was triggered by footage from police body cameras showing Mr. Nowak being handcuffed moments before losing consciousness and subsequently passing away.

Vickrum Digwa, 23, a resident in a nearby neighborhood, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years for Mr. Nowak’s murder.
