Ukraine retaliated against Moscow with a series of drone strikes following a significant ballistic missile attack by the Kremlin on Kyiv. Meanwhile, Russia intensified its use of ballistic missiles in response to Ukrainian strikes on its oil facilities, resulting in fuel shortages affecting both military and civilian populations.
Former US President Donald Trump expressed willingness to provide Ukraine with licenses to produce Patriot defense systems, crucial for intercepting Russian ballistic missiles. However, the production of Patriots within Ukraine might take years, posing a challenge as Kyiv requires immediate defense capabilities. The ongoing strikes between Moscow and Kyiv are escalating as both sides seek dominance in the conflict.
Ukrainian cities, particularly Odesa, have faced increasing attacks, with casualties reported in the region. President Volodymyr Zelensky described the recent raid on Kyiv as one of the most severe ballistic attacks since Russia’s invasion in 2022. Despite Russia’s escalating missile launches, it is noted that the country has fired more ballistic missiles in 19 days than its estimated monthly production capacity, indicating a sense of urgency and desperation in its military actions.
