Witnesses have reported seeing officers in white suits conducting investigations, although they have now left the area. Surveillance images depict police searching the wooded area behind the cordon near the junction of Old Durham Road and Shipcote Terrace in Gateshead.
The North East Ambulance Service responded to a call regarding an incident at the junction of Old Durham Road and Split Crow Road in Gateshead at around 3:45 pm on January 20. They dispatched a clinical team leader and an ambulance crew to the scene.
